There are various window treatments in the market today that keep the sun at bay and yet, retain the indoors as bright and beautiful. A textile is considered dirty when it has visible long-lasting traces. These traces are often the result of a progressive accumulation of small quantities of particles carried by any atmospheric agents, dirt, stain, dripping or seeping water.

There are two essential reasons why SOLTIS range of blind fabrics resist pollution so well:

  • Smooth surface texture has few micro-cavities able to house deposits for a long time
  • Surface treatment that contains an anti-grip agent.

To avoid sedimentation of polluting agents however, cleaning must be carried out regularly. Choosing good durable internal blinds is simple with the best SOLTIS range of blind fabrics from Serge Ferrari. 1. Vacuum blinds: The good news with vacuuming blinds is that they don’t even need to be taken down. Simply open the blinds and use the brush attachment on low airflow to remove dust and enhance cleaning. For ideal results, shut the slats fully to reach more surface area. And yes, brush in and up to downward movement to ensure there’s no residue left.
  2. Wet cleaning: You can rinse and bathe your blinds to remove all the dust deposits and allergens both on the surface and within. Ideally, use water on blinds after vacuuming. After rinsing, exercise caution to gently towel dry the slats to avoid streaking or tearing. This also helps in preventing water spots or patterns from forming.
  3. Spot cleaning: If the blinds have any food, ink or any other deposit from an external agent, use an all-purpose cleaner or mild detergent solution onto a dry microfiber cloth to make it squeaky clean. But remember to never spray directly onto the fabric, as it can tend to damage it partially or even, completely. You could also try an alcohol-free wipe to clean mild to stubborn stains. You could even moisten a soft rag to remove stains and traces of dirt.
  4. Dry-cleaning: Like most upholstery and drapes, blinds too can get dirty and unkempt over time. Are your blinds terribly soiled with pet hair, food residue and stains aplenty? The best solution would be to get them dry-cleaned.
